Your taste preference definitely affects your overall health. Even though you think your taste preference is not something serious, actually speaking, it's one of the factors which determine the course of your life. Your taste preference is molded by different factors, such as genetics, the food culture your family follows, and the preference of food by your parents. 

The effect of Salt: Most of you, definitely like salt and salt is important for your health. Salt deficiency can lead to Hyponatremia, which is a condition in which the level of Sodium is lower in blood and it causes the problems like seizures, lethargy, stress and even coma or premature death. Too much of salt intake jeopardizes your system with a lot of health related problems. Higher level of salt makes your skin puffed. It can cause Edema; a skin condition in which you have swollen body parts like legs or arms etc. Your body gets bloated with extra fluid produced inside. Extreme level of salt can also trigger kidney problems, heart problems, cognitive problems, stroke, and higher blood pressure. 

The effect of Sugar: Most of you are crazy for sweetness. A balanced level of sugar is necessary for a healthy body. If you have low sugar level in blood it's going to weaken the way the nervous system works. Low sugar level triggers dizziness, headaches, anxiety or nervousness. In the same way, higher intake of sugar can easily catapult you to a physical status, where you are vulnerable to a number of health disorders like type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart problems, high blood pressure or stroke. 

The effect of Sour taste: Sour taste can stimulate your digestive process. It works as an appetizer and is good for heart but the excessive intake can put your body strength and eyesight at risk. It can also trigger giddiness, swelling, or itching.

The effect of bitter taste: Bitter taste offers some natural protection against diabetes and heart related problems. It can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. Bitterness promotes the growth of healthy gut bacteria. Excessive intake of bitterness adversely affects the way your taste sensation works. Hot taste is good but over intake of hot items can cause inflammatory bowl diseases or belly pain and makes you feel some burning sensation if you have anal fissures. 

What you have to do: What you have to do is try to keep a balance between your taste preference and the food intake. Regularize your exercise. Have plenty of water, which can detoxify your system. Avoid alcohol and smoking and start every single day with a 5 minute meditation in which, you reaffirm that you can self control your body and have an inner visualization in this regard. This is how you get the muscle memory about necessary actions, you have to take in terms of your self control in life including your taste preference....
