You are the personification of consciousness itself and the level of consciousness you maintain normally triggers your energy inside, the reflection of which is your energy outside. You do have a tendency to be focused more on the negative energy since your brain, by default, always gives you the sensory experience of duality of self and other, which is what makes you belive in separation 24/7. In order to be free from this, you are supposed to reprogram the brain the way you want. 

The negative energy: Energy, actually speaking, is 100% neutral by quality. You get the same energy converted into either positive or negative energy and this process is entirely dependent on the employment of your consciousness. Negative energy can be triggered via your thoughts, emotions and actions and basically, it's the focus on your negative thoughts that pave way to negative emotions and actions. So you have to do thought management. It's possible that negative energy can also be produced by the negative people who you interact with and the negative surroundings, you get exposed to. Always understand the fact that negative energy can exhaust you mentally and physically and this happens because your physical state is the reflection of your mental state. Your focus on the negative energy can easily perpetuate the cyclical repetition of the same, breeding more negativity. The existing negative energy is the reason why you are angry upset, sadworried or depressed. Negative self talk is another source of negative energy. How you express your negative energy: When there's negative energy inside, it can easily make your consciousness thoroughly filtered and negative and you tend to express negativity. That's how you make clashes or go violent sometimes. Negative energy can make you critical of others and it's, actually speaking, another means through which you want to unload your discomfort on someone or something. Even though you feel good at first after criticizing someone, it's not going to last longer and you find yourself more worried. Negative energy is also expressed in the form of your anger, jealousy and urge to be more competitive and greedy. What negative energy does is nothing but the same cyclical repetition and you are always at the receiving end. You also start complaining a lot and that's how you get engaged in negative talk about yourself and others. The more focus you give on negative energy, the more complicated the outcome turns out to be. Negative energy plays a dominant role in making you do something illegal or violent. 

How it affects your system: Your body can definitely get thoroughly influenced by the negative energy in such a way that you may even have suicidal tendencies. Negative energy can easily cause emotional imbalance inside your system and it's the result of hormonal imbalance which is going to adversely affect your immunity power. The perpetuation of negative energy can easily cause the dysfunction of the heart and digestive system and sleeping disorders. It makes you always stressful, worried or depressed and converts neurochemicals into negative ones. 

How to clear negative energy: The best way you can do it is via meditation. Put yourself in a meditative mode for a couple of seconds or minutes before you go to bed or after you have been up. Have the inner visualization that you imbibe positive energy from the Universe itself and get your negative energy burned off and removed from your body and mind and picture that you have achieved perfect balance in terms of energy levels and emotions. The moment you do it, it literally happens because you are the personification of consciousness itself and the level of consciousness you employ actually triggers your energy within. And when you regularly do such a meditative pattern, new neural pathways are formed, which gives  you muscle memory always to achieve total emotional balance and balance between the positive and negative energies whenever required. Always try to clean the clutter wherever you stay. Put yourself in nature for a while and receive some  sun light and fresh air. It's good to grow some indoor plants as they can improve your over all mood. It's good to wear some items like crystals, beads or amulets which have already been positively recharged as they can give you the muscle memory to be postive always and improve your vibrational value. Take a shower regularly and sometimes after an oil massage. Regularize your exercise and breathing exercise. It's good to use music and lucid dreaming to program yourself on energy balance. Try to smile more often and practice gratitude,  kindness and love...
